In the immortal words of Garfield the cat . . . I hate Mondays.  Make it better and grab a cookies and cream protein smoothie on your way out the door.

Cookies and Cream Protein Smoothie | Cookies n Cream Shake | Oreo Protein Shake | Oreo Protein Smoothie | Oreo Shake | An easy protein smoothie at only 310 calories with 28 grams of protein!

Protein smoothies are a lifesaver for me when I’m short on time in the morning.  Funny – in high school, I did not really care about breakfast and would have been happier going without.  Now . . . I NEED breakfast.  If someone made me choose between giving up breakfast and dinner, I would pass on dinner. Breakfast gets me through the day.

This shake has plenty of protein and keeps me full straight through to lunch.  While I am particularly partial to my favorite peanut butter protein smoothie bowl, I wanted a variation for busy weeks where I am eating a smoothie a day.  Annnnnnd I had leftover oreos from having given into mad cravings and making oreo truffles a couple weeks ago.

When you load the blender, make sure that the cookies and the protein powder are closest to the blades.  I have a Ninja blender with one of the individual blender cups, so I load oreos and protein powder last and flip.  (Quite possibly our most-used wedding gift – I HEART our Ninja.)

I test drove this smoothie recipe after a girl friend and I tried CycleBar for the first time.  LOVED it.  It’s essentially a spin class on steroids, in the dark, to the beat of a sick custom playlist, with a competition board listing everyone’s stats at the front.  (Errr…yeah.  Going to have to work on my class rank.)  Despite my butt feeling like I took a ride at a rodeo, my sit bones will have to work back up to hour-long rides, because I can’t wait to go back!

I leave it to your discretion whether you justify the whip cream and oreo on top of your cookies and cream protein smoothie. I usually try to justify an extra oreo by swearing I’ll take the stairs at work.  (Which is saying something, since we are on the 9th floor.)  Remember . . . life is short.  🙂

Cheers!

A healthy Oreo shake with extra protein? What's not to love? I've gotta try one of these after my next long run. Yum!

You're going to make me want to have breakfast again! To be honest, I have LOADS of blueberries in my freezer that I have no clue what to do with so I've been going through it slowly with 'shakes' for brunch. I will be more than happy to switch up my 'shakes' for this one! Then again, if I omit the protein I can just have this for dessert! mmmm.

This is like dessert for breakfast! The best kind! :) The "hidden" protein powder makes it even better!

Thanks, Marie! I LOVE my new protein powder - I definitely taste it less than the whey-based proteins!

Thanks, Alyssa! I don't know if anything with an oreo in it can be called too healthy, but it makes up for it with protein, right??? (Master justification skillz going on over here.)

I don't know if it's powerful enough to offset Monday. I don't know that there's anything short of habanero shots that can me moving on a Monday. But this looks damn good for Tuesday:-)

Yum! Oreo blizzards have always been my favorite, made even better by adding protein! Don't think I'd feel one bit guilty grabbing this for breakfast once a week, thank you!

I mean...if it's got protein in it, Oreos are perfectly allowed. And can probably cover up any protein flavor...!

Right??? Lol. Though I must say that my new protein powder does not have that funky aftertaste of protein. Lol

I'd say whipped cream and an Oreo is always justified! This looks like a delicious way to get a super protein boost. I never had a protein smoothie, so this looks like a very tasty place to start!
