Healthy Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl | Protein Smoothie | Without Yogurt | Low Calorie | Breakfast | Post Workout | Recipe

Healthy Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl | Protein Smoothie | Without Yogurt | Low Calorie | Breakfast | Post Workout | Recipe

When it rains, it pours. I have an opportunity at work that all attorneys of my year would be thrilled about.  Instead, all I can think about is how I haven’t had a real weekend and a good night’s sleep in a month, how two vets and $600 of tests can’t tell me why the puppy is sick, and how there is no foreseeable break in the storm for the next few weeks.  Instead of feeling calm and prepped for this opportunity, I feel like I’m treading water.

Then I heard that a couple I knew in high school just found out their little boy, Simon, has cancer. A couple that is already struggling with the medical treatment of their new baby daughter, who was diagnosed with a genetic disease.  Talk about perspective.  I can’t even imagine the fear and insurmountable stress they must be going through.  While I worry about work.

It makes me hug David, hug the dog, and realize that even should I completely and utterly muck up this opportunity, I still have family and a job and travel and so much yet to learn in this little life.  Like how to appreciate what I have.

Love. Family. Work. Food. Health.

I can afford the fruit to make this healthy strawberry banana smoothie bowl.  I am well enough to stand up in the morning to load everything into the blender.  I have a job to go to, when I take this smoothie on the go and a husband to kiss as I run out the door.  So take care of yourself this week.  Take care of your family.  And for those of you dealing with something unimaginable, we will be thinking of you.

If you would like to read about Simon’s story or would like to make a donation to help with Simon’s medical bills, then first – you’re incredible.  Second, please visit the family’s site.

So, sorry to hear about your friend's little boy.:( I cannot imagine the worry they must be going through. And what a beautiful point about perspective and being thankful for what we have in life. It is a good reminder to let go of all the little things bothering us day to day. The smoothie bowl looks delicious, too. Beautiful pictures as always!

It's sad that it takes something like Simon to give you perspective but that's how it is with everyone I think. You just can't let the little things get you down - they will work out. Hope your puppy gets better soon!

I'm expecting my first baby girl in April, and it's already changed my perspective (and ability to worry) tremendously. I'll be keeping Simon and his family in my thoughts. And it's a good reminder to care for ourselves and our family. Bringing it to your beautiful recipe here - these fresh, whole, vibrant ingredients do just that - nourish our bodies so we can take good care of ourselves and others. Very beautiful!

Mikaela, that is very sweet and caring of you to bring Simon's situation into the light. It's true, sometimes it takes a something like that to really make you re-evaluate and put your life into perspective and keep you grounded but it takes an amazing person to reflect. :) I am sorry to hear about Darwin, hope everything is okay with him now? Let me know if you want to talk about puppy stuff, I know Oscar has had his fair share of lab tests with no results of his wierd health issues with his stomach so I'm here if you need to talk friend.. :)

That is so sweet of you Joyce. I can't imagine what Simon's parents are going through! And thank you thank you for your concern about Darwin! We are hoping he is on the mend, but that's what we thought last time, so we are waiting with fingers and toes crossed! I'm sure you know exactly how that feels, since it sounds like Oscar has had his struggles! Hopefully Oscar is doing well!

So glad to hear. I know the anxiety oh too well when this happens. He's sporadic still but going in the right direction. I hope Darwin feels better too. Puppy hugs.
